Lifting for Longevity: Why Your Bones Need Strength Training

How can this event help me?

Strong bones are key to staying active and independent as we age, but changes in bone density can increase the risk of fractures and mobility challenges. The good news? Research shows that strength training is one of the most effective ways to maintain and even improve bone health. Resistance exercises not only help preserve bone density but also enhance balance, support joint function, and reduce the risk of falls—making them essential for anyone managing osteoporosis, osteopenia, or other musculoskeletal conditions.

If you're looking to incorporate strength training safely and effectively, this session will provide practical insights and expert guidance. Exercise Physiologists Robyn Yin and Caitlin Johnson will explore how targeted exercises can support bone health and long-term resilience.

Join Robyn and Caitlin for a comprehensive session covering:

  • The Science Behind Strength Training and Bone Health
Learn how resistance training stimulates bone growth, preserves density, and supports musculoskeletal integrity—particularly for those managing osteoporosis or osteopenia.
  • Building a Safe and Effective Routine
Understand how to start or refine a strength training program tailored to your needs. Robyn and Caitlin will discuss progressive overload, technique refinement, and movement modifications to help you exercise with confidence.
  • Key Strength Exercises for Bone and Joint Health
Explore specific movements that promote bone density and muscular strength, with an emphasis on safety and effectiveness for those with arthritis, osteoporosis, or joint pain.
  • The ONERO Program and Its Role in Bone Health
Discover how the ONERO program, an evidence-based exercise approach designed to improve bone density, can help reduce fracture risk and support long-term musculoskeletal health.
  • Long-Term Benefits of Strength Training
Find out how consistent strength training supports independence, improves balance, and reduces the risk of falls and fractures—helping you stay active and resilient as you age.

This session is ideal for anyone looking to improve bone health, build strength safely, or better understand the role of resistance training in long-term well-being. Join us on Wednesday, 16 March at 8:00 PM AEDT for this live virtual event. As always, we welcome your questions and discussions to make this an engaging and supportive experience for everyone.
