Demystifying Methotrexate Part 2

How can this event help me?

Methotrexate is a widely used treatment for inflammatory arthritis, but many people still have questions about its long-term effects and how to manage it effectively. Methotrexate Demystified: Part 2 builds on our first session, diving deeper into practical aspects of using this medication. If you haven't watched Part 1, we highly recommend doing so, as this session expands on key concepts covered previously. Rheumatologist Dr Pauline Habib will address common concerns, clarify misconceptions, and discuss strategies for optimising methotrexate use.

Join Pauline for another(!) informative session where she’ll cover:

  • Methotrexate and Fatigue: What's the Link? Explore why some people experience fatigue while taking methotrexate, what factors contribute to it, and practical ways to manage energy levels.

  • Navigating Changes in Dosage and Administration: Learn what to expect if your doctor recommends increasing or decreasing your dose, switching between oral and injectable forms, or adjusting timing for better tolerance.

  • Managing Side Effects with Confidence: Understand the most common side effects of methotrexate, why they happen, and practical ways to minimise their impact. We’ll also discuss what to monitor and when to check in with your healthcare team.

  • Supplements and Methotrexate: Discover which supplements may support your overall health while on methotrexate, which ones require caution, and how to discuss them with your healthcare team.

  • What to Do If You Need to Pause or Stop Methotrexate: Learn when and how methotrexate might need to be paused—whether due to illness, surgery, or side effects—and what to consider if stopping treatment altogether.

If you joined us for Part 1, this session will build on that knowledge and explore new questions. If you’re new to the topic, watching the first session beforehand is highly recommended to get the most out of this discussion. Join us on Wednesday, 9 July at 8:00 PM AEST for this live virtual event. As always, we welcome your questions and discussions to make this an engaging and supportive experience for everyone.
