Thank you for the kind words and support you’ve provided BJC Health on social media. Our multidisciplinary team is working hard to engage and develop different online services to help our many patients as well as the wider community at a time when our patients are most fragile, mentally and emotionally.
A prime example of this is being led by Sarah Comensoli, Robyn Yin and Team EP (exercise physiology). They have pivoted at speed and have developed a range of live exercise sessions using Facebook and Zoom as the delivery platform, with both one-on-one sessions as well as group exercise classes. You should expect further tweaks and online support coming for specific rheumatic diseases in coming weeks. Many people have also reached out for rheumatology help and advice following our previous videos.
We are trying to respond to provide general, non-specific advice given public forums are not the place for tailored medical advice.
For those of you who are not already patients of BJC Health who are worried and asking for help, the best people to help you are your current doctors.
We have however been made aware that many of you have found it very difficult to reach your usual rheumatology team at the hospital clinics. This is becoming a more frequent occurrence given the measures our Australian hospitals are taking as preparation for the Covid-19 pandemic. Understandably, the reduced access is increasing your anxiety and affecting your health.
Our team of rheumatologists at BJC Health can and will help in this emergency crisis situation.
While your regular doctors are always the best source of information, we will endeavour to help you given this health crisis until you can contact your regular rheumatologist.
Our aim is to provide stop-gap advice to tide you over until you can see your usual doctor. This emergency advice will be provided using telehealth, video or phone consultations.
This service is restricted to Australians and can be accessed via https://www.bjchealth.com.au/rheumatologist-emergency-telehealth
We wish you and your loved ones stay as well as you can under these trying circumstances.
