Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) has a profound effect on people's lives. Patients have to cope with chronic pain, struggling with the demands of work and life in general. People without the disease rarely understand. Perhaps, its because the sufferers typically look "normal".
Women's Insights into Rheumatoid Arthritis is an initiative by Arthritis Australia. Women living with RA recounted their personal stories, meeting and sharing these stories with our nation's federal politicians. These politicians were female, and included Julia Gillard, our prime minister. These stories were collected in a book (pdf) and some of the stories were posted on YouTube.
This project is a great attempt to raise the voice of RA. It's very important for this voice to be heard.
