I’m sure many of you have heard of Movember, and may have even supported it yourself by growing a moustache in support of men’s health. This year, in partnership with the Australian Physiotherapy Association, Movember has rebranded itself as “MOVEmber”. This means, in addition to supporting men’s health by letting your facial hair grow wild, it is also challenging participants to move every day for 30 minutes during the month of November.
Basically, the idea this year is to Move for Movember!
This is great news at BJC Health for many reasons. Firstly, it gives all females a way to show support for the cause and get involved. Secondly, there are numerous researchers now informing us about the importance of exercise and physical activity, and this is a great way to encourage all people to get involved with more physical activity.
Recent research has suggested that for men and women, lack of physical activity causes more death than obesity, hypertension, high cholesterol and diabetes.
We are all very excited to be a part of this campaign in promoting physical activity and raising awareness for men’s health. If you would also take up the challenge with us, here is more information.
As part of MOVEmber, the physios at BJC Health would like to get as many of you doing physical activity as possible. If you are unsure about what to do, or unsure about whether you are ready to move 30 minutes every day in November, we would love to help you.
