Turmeric has long been used in Indian cooking to add flavor and colour. In traditional Indian medicine (Ayerveda), it is often used for it’s medicinal properties. Now, research is showing that turmeric may help reduce inflammation.
Turmeric comes from the root of the ‘Curcuma longa’, a member of the ginger family. The active ingredient which helps reduce inflammation is known as ‘curcumin’. In vitro, animal, and human studies have indicated that inflammation may be reduced by inhibition of molecules that can cause it.
Very cool stuff.
